1. What we deliberately do not collect

This matters more than anything else on this page, so it goes first.

  • We do not see the links you download. When you paste a URL, the app talks directly to that site from your own computer. The request does not pass through us, and no copy of the URL is sent to us.
  • We do not proxy or store your media. Files go from the source site to your disk. They never touch our infrastructure.
  • We do not receive your library or download history. That lives on your machine, in your own application data folder, and stays there.
  • We do not read your browser cookies. When you enable the browser-session feature for private or age-restricted videos, the app reads the cookie database locally and passes it to the download engine on your machine. Nothing is transmitted to us.

2. What we do collect

If you create an account or buy a licence

  • Your name and email address.
  • A password, stored only as a one-way hash — we cannot read it.
  • A record of your purchases: which plan, when, how much, and the payment reference.

We never see or store your card details. Payments are handled by our payment processor; we receive only a confirmation and a reference.

If you activate a licence

  • Your licence key and which plan it belongs to.
  • A device identifier and device name, plus when it was activated and last seen. This is how the one-device-at-a-time limit is enforced, and how we can release a licence for you when you move to a new PC.
  • Daily counters against your licence, used to apply the plan's limits. These are counts, not content — a number, never a list of what you downloaded.

If you contact us

  • Your name, email, subject and message.
  • Your IP address and browser user-agent string, recorded with the message. We use these to rate-limit submissions so the inbox cannot be flooded.

3. Why we hold it

Account and purchase data exists so you can log in, get your licence, and be given a refund if you ask for one. Licence and device data exists to make the plan limits work. Support data exists so we can answer you. We do not sell any of it, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

4. Analytics and the website

This website may load Google Analytics and a Meta (Facebook) pixel to tell us how many people visit and which pages they read. These are website measurement tools — they run on the site you are reading now, not inside the desktop app, and they can be blocked by any standard content blocker or by a “Do Not Track” setting without breaking the site.

We also set a cookie when you arrive through an affiliate link, so the person who referred you is credited if you buy. It stores a referral code, not your identity.

5. Who else sees it

Only the services required to run the business:

  • Our payment processor, to take payment and issue refunds.
  • Our email provider, to send licence keys, receipts and replies.
  • Our hosting provider, which stores the database the above lives in.
  • Analytics providers, as described above, for website traffic only.

We will also disclose information where the law genuinely requires it. Since we hold no record of what anyone downloads, there is nothing of that kind to disclose.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account and licence data — for as long as your account exists.
  • Purchase records — as long as tax and accounting rules require, typically several years.
  • Support messages — up to two years, so we have context if you write again.
  • Device activation records — until the device is deactivated, plus a short period afterwards.

7. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you a copy of what we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your account and personal data. Purchase records we are legally required to keep will be retained, but detached from your profile.
  • Stop emailing you anything other than transactional messages such as licence keys and receipts.

8. Children

Boo Downloader is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us data, tell us and we will remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect, we will update this page and move the date at the top. Material changes affecting account holders will also be emailed rather than quietly published.
