Which sites does Boo Downloader work with?
Over 1300. YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook are the big four we test on every release, and the same engine handles more than 1300 other sites — news outlets, streaming archives, education platforms, podcast hosts and so on. If a page plays video or audio in a browser, there is a good chance Boo can save it.
Can I batch download, and does that work everywhere?
Yes to both. Paste as many links as you like, one per line, and Boo queues them all — and they do not have to be from the same site. Playlists and channels expand into their individual videos on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook alike, so you can tick exactly which ones you want before anything starts.
Do I need to install anything else?
No. The downloader engine, the media converter and the JavaScript runtime all ship inside the installer. There is no Python to set up, no FFmpeg to put on your PATH, and no separate codec pack. Install it and paste a link.
What quality and formats can I get?
Video up to 8K where the source has it, plus 4K, 1440p, 1080p, 720p, 480p and 360p. Audio comes out as MP3, M4A, Opus or WAV. The free plan covers 1080p and MP3; Pro unlocks the full range.
Can I trim a clip instead of downloading the whole video?
Yes, on Pro. Paste the link, mark a start and end point, and Boo cuts and saves just that range — it does not fetch the whole video first. Mark more than one clip from the same video and each gets queued separately.
Can I convert a video file I already have?
Yes, on Pro. The Converter page works on files already on your PC, not just fresh downloads — drag one in and get back MP4, MKV, WebM, MOV or AVI at the resolution you pick, or pull the audio out as MP3, M4A, Opus or WAV. It runs on the same bundled engine as your downloads, so there is nothing extra to install.
Is playlist and batch downloading on the free plan?
Partly. The free plan queues two links at a time; playlist and channel expansion is a Pro feature, as is unlimited batch size. Once you are on Pro there is no cap — paste a four-hundred-video channel and pick what you want from it, and every item still gets its own progress bar, retry and cancel.
What about private or age-restricted videos?
Boo can borrow the signed-in session from your browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox and the other usual suspects — so content that needs a login works. You have to close the browser first, because Chromium-family browsers keep their cookie database locked while running.
Sites keep breaking downloaders. What happens then?
That is why the engine updates separately from the app. When a site changes something, you pull the newest engine from Settings and carry on — you are not waiting on us to ship a whole new installer.
Is my activity sent anywhere?
Downloads run directly between your PC and the site you are downloading from. We do not proxy your media, and we do not keep a record of what you download. The only thing that talks to us is licence activation.
What do I need to run it?
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The installer is self-contained — everything the app needs is bundled.
Is it legal to use?
The tool is. What you do with it is on you. Downloading your own uploads, content you have a licence for, public-domain material or anything the rights holder has offered for download is fine. Re-publishing someone else's work, or downloading in breach of a site's terms, is not — please do not use Boo for that.
Can I get a refund?
Yes — 14 days, no interrogation. If it does not do what you needed, email us and we will send the money back.
